Joules - Nufarm UK

Joules T0 and T1

After a 4 year absence, Joules was launched back on the market in 2012. Joules has a good reputation as a high quality, robust formulation and was one of the leading chlorothalonil brands prior to its' withdrawal five years ago.

Joules is a very cost effective treatment and is particularly useful as a protectant treatment at the T0 timing or as part of a T1 treatment programme

Nufarm Trials with Joules

Septoria is a constant threat to yield, especially in Ireland where 2012 was one of the worst years ever. Chlorothalonil is a multi-site acting fungicide, which after many years of use is still performing very well with no resistance problems. There is a gradual reduction in sensitivity of Septoria to triazole fungicides. Already Septoria resistant to SDHI fungicides has been reported. Every year Nufarm carry out a number of commercial development trials in order to support our products. The two trials below were carried out in Ireland

The graph on the left shows the yield results from two trials. When a full rate of Joules was applied in a high Septoria situation it actually yielded as well as epoxiconazole even at full rate. Epoxiconazole is one of the best triazole actives against Septoria. Nufarm do not recommend using Joules alone but these trials demonstrate the value of chlorothalonil in a fungicide programme

The same rainfast, high quality formulation

Joules and a Syngenta 500 formulation were spayed on a surface and artificial rain applied from 0.25 hours after application up to 6 hours. Retention of Joules was as good as the Sygenta formulation if not slightly better
